Loving my Ceil Chapman Gown Especially in my Novelty Socks

This gown is my wonderful wounded bird, despite all its issues. The dress has had a life, been at parties, weddings and yes on stage. I got this gown years ago from a playhouse and was told it came from a very wealthy lady. She had fun in this dress. It has aged and the lady is long gone, but this style will remain classic .

I was having a bad day , so this dress really cheered me up. Putting on an old damaged dress might seem silly to most, but it made me smile. I'm not about to tell you too much about the designer, because you can always Google her and I would bore you. All I can say, is that she was famous for her sculptural draping techniques, and the beautiful fabrics that she used. And I suppose I should mention that she designed a very famous dress that Marilyn Monroe had to be squeezed into, love that she was a huge fan of Chapman. In someways, I feel closer to Marilyn when I'm wearing a dress designer that she adored. This gown is too small for my frame, its a 32 bust and 26 waist, but it fits sort of. I think I need a  proper undergarment, so it fits better in the bust. I just didn't want to hurt myself by squeezing into this lovely gown. All I can say is that Marilyn was a brave gal!  I wonder if she liked novelty socks like myself.

This will probably be the last time I will try on this dress before it's either fixed or sold. Hopefully the gals that were interested are real. There are so many scammers on the internet. You sometimes feel you cannot even trust "real" people. I do hope I can get this dress restored, so I can ask for a pretty penny. I need to pay bills!!!!  I hate when I do all this work and I get F***** LOWBALLED!!!!

Images found on Tumblr. Does anyone use Tumblr anymore?

Lastly is gorgeous Marilyn in her Ceil Chapman, that she did not fit properly. Good for her!!!! Harold Lloyd took this photo with 3D stereoscopic photography. Sadly it wasn't used for her famous Life magazine cover from 1952. The photographer Philippe Halsman took that famous photo. Marilyn's dress was sculpted or what we call today a body- con dress with tons of ruching or gathering through out the entire dress

I hope to one day again have a Ceil Chapman dress perhaps like this. I guess I should be happy just to own a gown, although it will need a lot of work. I plan to list it on my social media and keep it tucked away safe from sunlight and heat in my new studio outside of town. Big changes for me, hooray!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

I hope you have a cool Yuletide and as Tiny Tim said in A Christmas Carol from 1843

" God bless us Every one! "

Vintage Irish Hourihan Victorian Style Walking Coat By Jimmy Hourihan

I've fallen in love with this gorgeous rare wool Irish "Victorian Walking"coat and you will too.

This coat is made by Jimmy Hourihan who is famous for  luxury wool coats and  walking capes. The capes are all over the internet, so they were big sellers back in the day and still are. My coat is pretty hard to locate. I checked with the website and to my surprise there were none like mine. Interesting. Probably cost too much to make nowadays. There are so many fake "China" copycat Victorian coats out there, be sure to purchase one that is real. You will only be mad when it starts to fall apart at the seams. I would invest in a coat like this one , so you will be the only one on the block with this coat. Don't look everyone else, be an original and wear classic vintage, like I do.

My coat is 100% tweed wool, dry clean only. This coat previous owner took such good care of her treasured coat. It's has no flaws, and no smells. I believe it was dry cleaned before I located it. I have it stored away from heat and sunlight in cool temp studio.

VINTAGE 1950s DEDE JOHNSON CIRCLE SKIRT

Gotta love this DeDe Johnson 50s print, the fox and hound ( yes, the fox gets away.) Every story gets a happy ending . Dede Johnson was a fashion designer that started the trend of the peddle pushers in the 50s and 60s. She has designed for such 50s tv shows such as Leave It To Beaver and the Dick Van Dyke show. Remember Laura Petrie? Yes, she wore those cute cigarette pants or peddle pushers and literately started a trend that would last forever. Anyhow, this skirt is on my To Dress Vintage website. The store name  about to change very soon to GRAVEYARD VINTAGE com.

I offer FREE SHIPPING for the US only. If you're interested in this skirt, just message me. Thanks, now enjoy these photos.

Re-Opened My Etsy shop soon to be Graveyard Vintage

It took some soul searching to change things, but I decided to go back to Etsy until I make it work again. I've been scared to get lost in the shuffle , but now things somehow seem different.  They are helping us with making sales. I have been offering FREE SHIPPING, but now Etsy encourages  it , which now seems fair for everyone. Okay off my soap box. Vintage has been my passion for many years, that's primarily why I went into this business so on with the show....

I'm just waiting for Etsy to get back to me on my shop's name. Fingers crossed.... Our Lucy Ricardo took it literally. Note her eyes . Ha ha!!!! Graveyard Vintage here I come!!!!!

Gorgeous Eva In Her $15.00 Vintage Dress

Wow! Eva Mendes shared this on her Instagram 3 days ago and I'm still thrilled to see it. I buy and wear lower priced vintage dresses all the time. She makes me proud to be a lower end vintage seller. One of my dresses I got for 50 cents, and I still have it in my collection. So it goes to show that money doesn't matter when it comes to what you like. Wear it with style, as the old saying goes and you be glad you did.

Children's Unisex 70s Vintage Leisure Shirt and Beatles T-Shirt

The unisex leisure shirt is by Wee Winki from the 1970s.

 Measurements

Both are about 4t size chest 11 inches across , shoulders 11 , length 17 for the leisure shirt and 15.5 for the unisex tee.

In good vintage condition for its age, but with a flaw.

The leisure shirt has one small pin hole on the back of the shoulder, the felt on the tee is a bit faded in parts.

I am selling as a lot. I will be listing this one my website shortly.

I don't get vintage children's clothes that often, so this was a find.  It might be on my Graveyard too.

More Vintage Garments On My Graveyard Ebay and Poshmark

Take a look at these lovelies....

First is an awesome skin tight vintage early 90s dress from Yunik Rio made in Brazil , check out that pattern, cool huh. Reminds me of an Emilio Pucci design from the early 60s.

Next is a fun 1930s maid dress, it is the real thing. I have seen copies of these, but not like this. It was made to last. Someone even added pretty accents of linen cuffs and collar; all can easily be removed they are just stitched on. These dresses were well used and not always found in good shape, this one is used and has some wear . I have added a belt to give it some shape, and dressed it up a bit. It has tons of snaps ,but it missing its original white sash apron and one tiny hole on sleeve. Sorry, it needs additional steaming. What a fun dress!

Up next is a 1960s cocktail skirt, this one has been altered. The original owner sewed on a silk cut out heart accent, and some extra fabric sticking out on the lining this cannot be seen when worn

. A pin up gal would look perfect in this little number with a fitted black cashmere beaded sweater. I have one too, if you're interested. Just message me.

I'm a huge fan of anything done in classic black. This dress is by a very famous couture designer, Morton Myles, just google him and his fab designs, and you'll see. The label reads Morton Myles For The Warrens. I have found no info on the Warrens. No one seems to know even on the Great Etsy, the mystery continues.....

This one is a simple LBD, but with such flair. It has elegant sequin sleeves, and the plunging v-back takes the cake.So sexy and modest at the same time. The owner took very good care of this dress.

The next dress is by Phoebe from late 80s , I remember this label. I might have to borrow this and wear it somewhere fancy.

This dress reminds me of the 1940s Hollywood starlets.I have it pinned back, its a larger size. The dress looks nice with this flashy red 1980s belt, just for fun. Check it out. This one is in As Found Condition, it was well loved. You can find this one on my Poshmark, affordable vintage dress. Sorry PM does not have free ship.

My last find is this 1980s Asian blouse, this has the coolest neckline I have ever seen. What a fun blouse to dress up or dress down casual with your 1980s Levis, that's my kinda style.

Here's a close up of the cut -out look stand up collar.

Well check these out, they will be on my website and Ebay shortly.  I will update this when I get the link set up. Just click on the photo and you'll be either on Ebay or my website.

I might to try out an auction in the near future maybe a vintage lot for the whole bunch. I have not decided.

Thanks for supporting small businesses and for not shopping at the malls; which are soon to become relics of the past.

More Gold Lame Purses Coming Very Soon.... but First Our Marilyn

These photos are from a very rare Marilyn Monroe photo-shoot entitled "The Gold Dress Sitting ".

They are by her personal photographer and friend, Milton Green and were shot on 1954 in his

Lexington studio NYC.

Check out that gold lame dress, it's just a simple shirt dress, but on her the gold comes alive.

I wonder who her designer was?

I located these on Pinterst  and Tumblr.

The entire pose sitting, so beautiful.

And last, but not least my vintage gold lame purse collection. Just click on them and you will be taken to my Graveyard Vintage Ebay listing page.
