Vintage Oleg Cassini Couture Dress Now on Sale

 Just picked up this couture dress at an estate sale,  so elegant. The dress is a throw back to the 60s one shoulder couture gown, that he designed for Jacqueline Kennedy. It was copied over and over again by all designers including Cassini , he revamped his original and made it affordable for all women to wear and look like a million dollars. This dress will be a perfect dress for any occasion, you will be a knock out for sure, and other women will be green with envy.

   This dress is more of a midi gown, with a nice one shoulder look and has an accent rhinestone brooch, so beautiful on. It drapes nicely on the bodice and has a long leg slit to show off your legs. It has a pretty abstract pattern of palms or some other kind of foliage , very 60s.

In great condition, only flaw is a few original rhinestones on the back of the brooch are missing, and some are coming loose needs to be secured with a thread and needle, I can fix it but I don't have any matching rhinestones, or I'll leave it up to you. The original label has been torn off, but there's a definitely a clear view of his curly O signature and his family crest in gold, this is made in Hong Kong, possibly from the 70s to the late 80s. The VFG has it listed as 90s, but I don't think so, I think it's from the late 80s. I could be wrong.

Measurements- Bust 34.5 or 36 tight there's some stretch since it really has no definite bodice
                         Waist- 30-32 some stretch
                          Hips- 36-40

 He designed costumes for many stars, including Veronica Lake, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Gene Tierney, and Natalie Wood. Some of the films he did costumes for included The Shanghai Gesture (1941), Tales of Manhattan (1942), The Razor's Edge (1946), and many more.

I love this photo of the happy couple-with his beautiful wife, actress Gene Tierney.

Here's my favorite dress he designed for the newcomer of 1952 Miss Marilyn Monroe- Note that this dress is a one shoulder style too, he was so ahead of fashion. A pure genius with design, wow!!!!

Hemlock Grove 60s Dress On Olivia

   Just finished watching Hemlock Grove on Netflix, and to my utter surprise there was my vintage 60s shift dress on the main character Olivia. Oh my gosh that is too cool. The actress Famek Janssen looked beautiful in this dress. The dress seemed so short on her, she must be at least 5' 11 ft or more in heels. It looked as if the costume designer might have altered it so it would appeal to the younger audience, gotta love their mini dresses.I would consider this dress a couture dress, probably worth a lot in its day.

 I will be selling it on my blog, not on Etsy, too saturated with vintage sellers. I'm getting tired of getting lost in the crowd of vintage dresses. Hee Hee!

  This was the scene that caught my eye, the beaded collar looked so familiar. Ah ha ! It is my dress to my delight!!!!Famek's is white like all here dresses on the show, mine is cream or champagne white. They might have bleached it white too. I wonder??? Anyhow enjoy this gallery of this dress! Sorry my tv is dying, color did not turn out that good. I will take others and replace these later. I just got so excited my dress was featured on this show. I wonder who the seller for this dress was? I hope they got some kind of fee or  some sort or recognition for there efforts.

Vintage Platform Shoes by Alfriero Maccanti

These shoes are so cute, and in very good condition for there age. It's hard to determine what era these are from. I found shoes on Google images with the exact same stamp shoe label, but they were from the 1960s. They had large heels, and pointy toes. These shoes I was told were from the 40s, but its hard to tell when I can't find a duplicate on Etsy or Ebay. Still very stylish and  a classic look.

Send me your foot measurements and I can tell you if you will fit theses like a glove. These are marked as 6 1/2, but tend to be smaller. They have a 4 inch heel, inside shoe is 9 inches, widest part of toe is 3 inches, outside of shoe from toe to heel is 10. Please measure yourself carefully vintage shoes tend to run small. I believe these are a size 5.

60s TV and Fashion

  This is still vintage related. I have discovered for the first time the tv show from the 60s called The Mothers In -Law which was produced by Dezi Arnaz , who was the husband of Lucille Ball. I saw clips of this tv show on You Tube , but they were all deleted and I gave up thinking I would never see it again. Amazon has it for sale , but all my cash goes to vintage, so I would have to wait.

 Now Hulu Plus has this show along with the  The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy , which I'm a huge fan of. This really made my day!

While I was watching the Mothers In- Law , I spied a pattern of a dress that reminded me of my 60s scooter dress that I will be listing on our Etsy site soon.

    This dress looks very similar, but Eve Arden's must be silk and from a famous Hollywood designer, I need to check with the credits to see who her designer was.

     This scooter dress is 100% cotton and meant for a teenager. It is funny how the trends bounced back and forth form mother to daughter, how cute. Nowadays, mothers want to look like their daughters, LOL.

LA Frock Stars!!!

  Just watched LA Frock Stars yesterday. Wow, what a cool show! I liked all the dresses that were featured, especially the segment with the gorgeous Dita Von Tesse. Her style is impeccable and you can tell that she loves vintage. I really loved the information about the owner of the shop, she started selling her collection of vintage at flea markets and now look where she is, her gowns are 50,000 for her couture. I've seen her garments featured on 1stDibs.and they are beautiful  and very expensive because they are one of a kind, and in most cases from couture collectors. This show will help bring vintage into the mainstream , which is very good for retailers and will help with the economy. I'm so happy that I can watch it on my computer, I never watch tv anymore.

 The last two dresses are featured on Doris's website from 1st Dibs, a very high end website. I was honored when one of the buyers from 1stDibs contacted me and said they would be interested in my collection in the near future. That made my day!!! 

The websites fee to join is way out of my price range, but for a high end seller its a walk in the park, so to speak.

    The floral gown is sold, how much I wonder? The last dress on my list of favorites is featured on their show. It's a fabulous Adele Simpson. An iconic piece for a vintage collector.
